Pinnacle Point is located on the Coast of South Africa. It was excavated between 2001-2017, Under the direction of Dr. Curtis Marean. The site consists of a series of caves and open-air sites along the coastline. The project was originally created under the South African Paleoclimate, paleoenvironment, paleoecology, and paleoanthropology (SACP4) project.

The local has yielded numerous exciting finds, from evidence of the earliest marine adaptation (~164,000) to heat treated stone tools, microlithic technology, human landscape use, and early human adaptive strategies to shifting paleoclimates.

Additionally, the site has offered researchers an opportunity for extensive environmental and ecological reconstruction. Dr. Hodgkins' focus has been the isotopic analysis of the fauna and ostrich eggshell from the site, describing bovid migratory behavior and early human predation, migration, and landscape use.
